Monk Gyatso (dad): Aang here shows self-sacrifice for others, as he surrenders to Zuko in order to protect the water tribe. This selfless act, and the fact that Aang is exposed as the avatar, lead Sokka and Katara to change their minds about helping him.
It is also noticeable that Aang did not want the responsibility of being the avatar, but he now sees that he needs to face up to the duty given him. Life is full of tough things that we don’t want to do, but we need to do them anyways. This is a good lesson for all of us.
We also see how Aang’s friends support and encourage him, and how this strengthens him in doing what he needs to do and realize his destiny.
EllaBella (girl 7 yrs old): I like how Sokka stood up to the fire nation and did his best.
Now, these are NOT lesson plans, and are not fully developed; but they are the beginning of discussions we are having in our home and our invitation for you to join in and see lessons you glean from the shows. So Please Comment!!
