I am in the business of teaching my children. I love them, I want them to be happy, and I
want them to be well-balanced. There are
TONS of messages coming into our home through media. To help them recognize these messages, and
then help them discern the gold nuggets from the trash, we watch media together
and discuss it.
We exclusively watch things on DVD, so that we automatically
filter out commercials, but do occasionally watch commercial TV for the
commercials, so that we can talk about them.
We are therefore always looking for things to watch, so if
you have any recommendations, let me know.
But our findings so far have demonstrated that there are too many good
programs out there for us to possibly watch, especially when you consider
classic cinema treasures.
As me and the kids explore what is out there, we wanted to
share the work we are doing with the world.
Maybe this can be a model for others, maybe it will enrich your viewing
experiences, and maybe it is just kind of fun.
We invite you to join with us in this project of using media
to teach.
Now, these are NOT lesson plans, and are not fully developed; but they are the beginning of discussions we are having in our home and our invitation for you to join in and see lessons you glean from the shows!!

Disclaimer: We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints (LDS), and this certainly informs how we read things. Just as we pick parts out of media, pick and
choose which of this applies to you.
Thank you for your commitment to your passion and your children. I have enjoyed reading your interpretation of the episodes.
